as they arrive
a flourish of colors
the banners of families
the rich tapestry of fashion
while the dogs watch anxiously
from corners of the estate.
A man stares intently talking
remarking on the calmness in the eyes.
some factions pat their bellies
while others tell me histories
of where ancestery has begun.
Later in my freedom
as only the head closes her book gently
has my sword been respected
a victor on the mound.
I do not cry foul weather
For the summons curious had i come,
had i known the wager firstly
better shoes would i worn.
The arrogant suffer chasms
Pinstripes stained in blood,
Do not test me lightly
Bells always ring in doom.
