The First Thing I had to Give Up

it wasn't the worst thing,
it wasn't the most expensive:
most valuable
most prized
rarest, coveted, sought after, fought over
obsessed about, idolized, And
even it was not that useful,
or beautiful
or held in the highest regard;
but it was the beginning
and signaled the end
for me,
when I lost the key
to my personal cellar
located eighth floor
next to the orchids
at the Roosevelt Club Shanghai.

snow angel / oil / canvas / 10 x 10 in

love poem

i don't think
i'd be alive
if someone didn't love me.
i don't think
i'd even care
to explain this lot in life.
if it wasn't for
the glory of
living this cycle in memory.
then there wouldn't be
a thing of me
to taste this air we breathe.

the payload was so much greater than its target that upon impact it wasn't so much body substance that went everywhere but a feeling of matter hot and with blood enveloping the air

i was a nothing
pure and done
with nothing but a dream
to b e c o m e,
i was a baby
born and due
to grow from that
into what i knew,
i was a child
ready to go
never slowing
didn't know,
i was older after
and older more
and grow older now
until i go,
from where I am,
which is never known.

the below eight paintings that I released slowly in June make up my series endgame. they were all made from a large painting, Changing of the Guard, that I tore down after becoming frustrated with its framing and difficulty in shipping. the eight paintings that came from this tearing and cutting and rebuilding are gems. that's how i think of them. i hope you have enjoyed them. i'll have a new series that I have been working on come out soon. something very special.

There’s too many steps

From here to my bed

I don’t know how I’ll face the challenges

Along the way

Taking only my passion

For sleep as my weapon

My dreams become

Reality in forgotten steps.

Held up by your

even after
there is
the song of you.
